Hat Trick Hero!!!

On Saturday the 28th of July my football team played Miramar at Onepoto Park. The game begun at 9:00. We kicked off the first half and I was playing left back to start off. After awhile I found that my positioning was horrible and then my coach moved me back to my normal position left wing.

For the first half we had loads of oppurtunities but we weren't taking them. When the half time whistle went the score was still 0-0.

The second half begun and Mirimar kicked off almost straight away we gained possession, Fraser then passed to Ollie and he took a shot but the defender blocked it I ran in for the follow up and shot it with my right into the top corner 1-0 to Tawa. After that we started to dominate Fraser scored one I scored another Ollie then scored I scored my hat trick Toby scored one, they actually managed to score against us After that Fraser scored the last goaln for a final score of 7-1 to Tawa. My coach told me well done on the hat trick and so did my dad.

Final score 7-1 what a thrashing!!!

Tawa vs North Wellington

On the 21st of July my football team played North Wellington at Grenada North. We arrived at 8:30 for a 9:00 game. Our coach wasn't very pleased because North Wellington seemed to be energetic and warming up  very well and our team we doing nothing half of us we're still half asleep.

The game started and we kicked off, for the first quarter of the game North Wellington seemed dominating us we kept giving away possession and our defence was horrible. Just before half time we were awarded a penalty Fraser took the shot and scored. The half time whistle went and we ran off the pitch expecting a few negative comments from the coach.

The second half begun and I was off for the first half of it, while I was off we were awarded a free kick Triston yelled out for Mitch to take it he shot and the ball rocketed into the far right of the net.

Soon after that I came on and was in left wing, I was then passed the ball, I then lobbed it to Fraser who played a through ball to Ollie who just managed to be onside he ran 1-on-1 with the keeper and he ran out Ollie then chipped high over the keeper and into the top corner, that was a good goal.

Soon after that North Wellington weer awarded a free kick it was crossed into the box and one of their players manages to get the ball and kicks it around Rhys into the bottom corner of the goal.

The final whistle went and we won with a score of 3-1

Football game No.7

In the Queen's Birthday weekend my football team had our seventh football game of the season it was held at Alex Moore Park and we faced North Wellington.

When we arrived it was freezing and Rhys and I ran around the field desperately trying to keep warm. Our coach didn't turn up to till the game was about to start and it was a bit chaotic he was shouting out to us telling us our position.

The ref was FIFA approved and had a real whistle.

The game begun and we kicked off we made a few silly mstakes and let in two goals and at half time we were losing 2-0 our coach talked to us a told us to start playing propely he said we should be dominating.

The second half begun and North Wellington kcked off Fraser made a quick interception and passed it to me, I ran down the wing as fast as I could and then turned and started to run into the middle I then shot with my right foot (I'm left footed) just outside the box it curled toward the top corner of the goal but  hit the post and went out. My coach shouted "good shot Matt!". I smiled as I ran up the pitch.

The goal kick was taken and it was coming toward me I jumped up and headed it to Fraser, he made a run and got around a couple of players then had a shot I thought it was going to miss and I was about to say good try Fraser but then I saw it fly into the top corner and it hit the net the score was now 2-1.

Soon after Bailey had shot from long range and scored, what a goal! 2-2 A bit after that goal Jorge was running up the wing and crossed to Ollie, he got around a player then had a shot and it didn't leave the groung but it rolled into the bottom corner and the keeper couldn't reach it, what a goal. From 2-0 down to 3-2 up what a comeback but then we conceded a penalty, Rhys goa a hand to it but couldn't quite keep it out 3-3.

We then were rewarded a penalty but Ollie blew it and kicked straight at the keeper who just bent down and picked it up.

Final score 3-3 pretty intense game!

A lion stalking his prey-Verbs

IALT to use well chosen words.

The lion quietly follows his oblivious prey, through the long grass. He slowly creeps, closer and closer. Without warning he emerges from the grass and pounces at his prey!

Does anyone else have any ideas of other verbs I could have used?

My Love Letter

In my class we  are writing love letters we had a choice to write a serious love letter a carcastic love letter or a 'Dear John' Letter, a Dear John Letter is when you write all these nice things and then you say it's over. I decided to  do a Carcastic Dear John Letter to Rhys telling him that I'm dropping him from our football team enjoy :)

Dear Rhys Jennings

Rhys you’re a wonderful goalkeeper. You dive like a bird that can’t fly, falling through the air. Your amazing reflexes are as quick as a lazy snail.

The way you shout “KEEPER!” literally deafens my ears and I play left wing, imagine what the defenders have to put up with.

You’ve done well in keeper, only letting 25 goals in the first four games. But the whole team including me have decided that you would be better off with the B team, that is why we’re dropping you.

From

Matt and the team.

The season begins!

On the 21st of April my football team the Tawa panthers played Lower Hutt at Grenada North between 10:45 am and 12:00pm. My position is left wing (LW) which is good for me because I am a faster runner and a good crosser.

Back to the game Lower Hutt kicked-off first, soon after they scored and it was a very good goal from outside the 18 yard box. Later in the game they scored again it was a powerful shot in the penalty area Rhys our keeper got a hand to it but couldn't quite keep it in. They scored once more just before half time from a short ball one-two which was crossed and volleyed down into the bottom corner that was a great goal. Half-time whistle goes and the first half is over.

Whenever we talk to Triston (our coach) such as at half time and full time of our games he asks us what we did well and what we could do better.

The second half begins and it's our turn to kick-off we pass the ball around a few times getting it up the field and then I try to put a cross in but it's blocked by Lower Hutts right back. Corner kick to come DJ,Tristons son was playing for us and he took the corner kick the ball flys into the air and Fraser hits it with his head into the back of the net. Good goal by Fraser!

Soon after we gain possesion once more and DJ runs into the box hits the ball and it flys into the top corner the scores now 3-2. Final whistle goes, full time has come we still lost but a pretty good comeback in the end we shake hands and cheer for the certainly challenging opponents.
